How to really save on gas

Posted on May 8th, 2008 by Monique, under Collectibles, Daily Life, Gadgets, Outdoors, Shopping, Travel, Weblog.

There are many ways to really save on gas. Here is a really efficient one.

Get a hybrid Vespa Scooter. hah!

Hybrid Vespa Scooter

I have always wanted a scooter to buzz around town on, but I would be too scared my clumsy self would get hurt. Even worse, there are people out there who drive like crap.

But a hybrid Vespa scooter must use hardly any gas at all! Amazing.

Lundby Doll House

Posted on May 3rd, 2008 by Monique, under Collectibles, Photography, Toys, Vintage, Weblog.

So we found this lundby doll house in the back of our closet that must have belonged to some long lost friend of the family of the home’s previous owners. I opened it up, and could tell it had been played with a bit, but was still very cool as far as doll houses go. It had electric wires and little light fixtures, and a power plug which told me it lit up and had definitely made a little girl happy.

but its time had come, and ebay it went… but I did take some cool pictures of it, and the shots of the empty rooms look almost creepy. Click the image below for the entire gallery of the Lundby Doll House.

Vaseline Glass Hen

Posted on May 3rd, 2008 by Monique, under Animals, Art, Collectibles, Housewares, Nature, Weblog.

I saw this little vaseline glass hen online and had to have her. Vaseline glass, aka Uranium glass, is a really cool yellow color that is made from expired uranim added to the glass. Yes I know, it sounds scary, but it is perfectly safe and for decorative purposes only. :)

Vaseline Glass Hen

the description from where I purchased it:

This is a wonderful example of a salt cellar made from Glass - the color is Vaseline. Vaseline has trace amounts of Uranium Oxide in the glass which causes it to glow in the dark when near a black light source (also known as Atomic Age Glass). Salt Cellars are used at a table in lieu of a salt shaker. A small spoon, usually glass or sterling (not included) is used to add salt to the food. The top of this salt cellar has a little chicken or hen - absolutely stunning.

it glows green underneath blacklight too!
